Family Planning
The Greenup County Health Department (GCHD), in collaboration with UK Healthcare, is excited to announce the launch of expanded Family Planning and Women’s Health Services, beginning April 7, 2026. Appointments are now being scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
This initiative is part of a strategic effort to improve access to essential preventive services and address factors that contribute to higher health risks, poorer health outcomes, and health inequities among specific populations in Greenup County.
Through this partnership, clinical services will be provided in coordination with UK Healthcare, while the Greenup County Health Department leads strategic planning, community outreach, and efforts to reduce barriers to care. Together, this collaboration aims to ensure that all individuals, especially those disproportionately impacted, have access to high-quality women’s health services.
Services will include:
- Annual well-woman exams
- Breast health screenings and referrals for mammography
- Cervical cancer screenings (Pap tests)
- Contraceptive counseling and family planning services
- Pregnancy testing and counseling
- STI testing and treatment
- Health education and individualized care planning
“We are committed to improving access to services in the community by offering Women’s Health and Family Planning in the most centralized location in Greenup County. Our Community Health Improvement Plan is focused on decreasing transportation issues for our residents,” said Chris Crum, GCHD Director. “By partnering with UK Healthcare, we are strengthening access to critical services and addressing gaps that have historically impacted the health of women in our region.”
