The Greenup County Board of Health provides leadership and oversight for the Greenup County Health Department and represents the interests of the community we serve.

Board of Health Nominations
The Greenup County Health Department is accepting nominations for appointments to the Greenup County Board of Health.
Nomination Period
September 1 through October 31, 2026.
Nominations received during this period will be considered for the next two-year term, which runs January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2028.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Board of Health positions represent a variety of professional and community perspectives. For the upcoming term, nominations are being accepted for:
- Registered Nurse
- Engineer
- Optometrist
- Veterinarian
- Lay/Community Member
If additional Board of Health vacancies become available, nominations may also be considered for those positions.
Current Board members who wish to continue serving in their current position must submit a new nomination during the nomination period. Reappointment is not automatic.
What Happens After You Submit a Nomination?
The nomination period closes October 31, 2026. Beginning November 1, Local Health Personnel will review and process nominations.
Nominations received by the deadline will be processed first. If more than one qualified individual is nominated for the same position, the seat may be considered contested. Individuals nominated for contested positions may be asked to provide a CV/resume and/or respond to the question of interest included on the nomination form.
For contested positions, Local Health Personnel will consult with the local health department director before forwarding the nomination information to the Commissioner’s Office for final selection.
Submit a Nomination
All Board of Health nominations must be submitted through the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services nomination portal.
Nomination Deadline: October 31, 2026
Important: Submitting a nomination does not guarantee appointment. Nominations are reviewed through the state appointment process, and final selections are made by the Commissioner’s Office.
Preventative Programs
We have a variety of preventative health programs for children and adults which ensure the ongoing good health of everyone in our community. The Health Department is a source of information and services for individuals and families who need assistance with medical care, nutritional counseling, health screenings, immunizations, family planning, environmental protection and disaster preparedness.
Community Health Assessment (CHA)
A Community Health Assessment (CHA) is a comprehensive process that gathers and analyzes data on the health status, behaviors, and needs of a community. It helps identify key health issues and factors that influence well-being, such as social, economic, and environmental conditions. The findings collected from community voices and health data help guide community partners and our Greenup County Health Department in setting priorities, developing strategies, and allocating resources to improve overall community health.
Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)
A Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is a collaborative, long-term plan that outlines strategies to address the priority health needs identified in the Community Health Assessment (CHA). It brings together community partners, stakeholders, and community members to set measurable goals and implement evidence-based actions. The CHIP serves as a roadmap for improving health outcomes and promoting optimal health and well-being for every individual within the community.
