Dental Program

The Greenup County Health Department is now offering a free dental hygiene program aimed at improving oral health. The GCHD Dental Team members are Kayleigh Hambrick, PHRDH and Dental Assistant, Joanie Luther.

This initiative is typically part of a broader effort to ensure that children have access to essential health services, thereby promoting overall well-being and academic success. The program will include routine dental check-ups, cleanings, and preventive treatments such as fluoride applications and sealants. These services are provided by a public health registered dental hygienist, overseen by the State of Kentucky Dentist, ensuring that students receive high-quality care. If restorative treatment is needed, it is our goal to be the door that students/patients walk through to find a dental home.

This service is provided through Medicaid medical provisions set aside for health departments and does not interfere with dental benefits. It is also provided free to everyone, regardless of your insurance or ability to pay. This program not only helps maintain students’ dental health, but also alleviates financial burdens on families, fostering a healthier community. Consent forms to participate in this dental program will be handed out on the first day of school and readily available at any time for any parent/guardian that is interested.

Parents and guardians interested in taking advantage of the program can find more information by contacting their children’s participating school or Kayleigh Hambrick, PHRDH (kayleigha.hambrick@greenupCHDky.gov or 606-473-9838 EXT 144) at the Greenup County Health Department.
